“May God give you...For every storm a rainbow, for every tear a smile, for every care a promise and a blessing in each trial. For every problem life sends, a faithful friend to share, for every sigh a sweet song and an answer for each prayer.”
Sunday is mother's day! I am so very thankful for my mother. Not only is she everything a Mom should be, but she's also one of my best friends. To celebrate Mother's Day this year we are having my Mom over and gonna have a cookout. It should be a great time, and yes -- I'm sure I'll take pictures. :) Happy Mother's Day!
I can't get the embedded code for this video to work, so you'll just have to use the link ( below.). You won't regret it though, it's the "mom song" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A0ZpuA8_YYk&feature=related
WHY GOD MADE MOMS
Answers given by 2nd grade school children to the following questions:
Why did God make mothers?
1. She's the only one who knows where the scotch tape is.
2. Mostly to clean the house.
3. To help us out of there when we were getting born.
How did God make mothers?
1. He used dirt, just like for the rest of us.
2. Magic plus super powers and a lot of stirring.
3. God made my mom just the same like he made me. He just used bigger parts.
What ingredients are mothers made of?
1. God makes mothers out of clouds and angel hair and everything nice in the world and one dab of mean.
2. They had to get their start from men's bones. Then they mostly use string, I think.
Why did God give you your mother and not some other mom?
1. We're related.
2. God knew she likes me a lot more than other people's mom like me.
What kind of a little girl was your mom?
1. My mom has always been my mom and none of that other stuff.
2. I don't know because I wasn't there, but my guess would be pretty bossy.
3. They say she used to be nice.
What did mom need to know about dad before she married him?
1. His last name.
2. She had to know his background. Like is he a crook? Does he get drunk on beer?
3. Does he make at least $800 a year? Did he say NO to drugs and YES to chores?
Why did your mom marry your dad?
1. My dad makes the best spaghetti in the world. And my mom eats a lot
2. She got too old to do anything else with him.
3. My grandma says that mom didn't have her thinking cap on.
Who's the boss at your house?
1. Mom doesn't want to be boss, but she has to because dad's such a goof ball.
2. Mom. You can tell by room inspection. She sees the stuff under the bed.
3. I guess mom is, but only because she has a lot more to do than dad.
What's the difference between moms and dads?
1. Moms work at work and work at home and dads just go to work at work.
2. Moms know how to talk to teachers without scaring them.
3. Dads are taller and stronger, but moms have all the real power 'cause that's who you got to ask if you want to sleep over at your friends.
4. Moms have magic, they make you feel better without medicine.
What does your mom do in her spare time?
1. Mothers don't do spare time.
2. To hear her tell it, she pays bills all day long.
What would it take to make your mom perfect?
1. On the inside she's already perfect. Outside, I think some kind of plastic surgery.
2. Diet. You know, her hair. I'd diet, maybe blue.
If you could change one thing about your mom, what would it be?
1. She has this weird thing about me keeping my room clean. I'd get rid of that.
2. I'd make my mom smarter. Then she would know it was my sister who did it not me.
3. I would like for her to get rid of those invisible eyes on the back of her head.
I know it's not quite summer yet, but nothing reminds me of summer more than fishing. Oh, fishing, and watermelon. Watermelon reminds me of summer. I'm going to be planting a watermelon this year, and I can't wait! I've already got my tomatoes planted. Mmmmmm. We met some friends at the lake the other day. It was so nice sitting and watching the kids fish, and then enjoying a picnic lunch together. I hope we get to do it again soon!
Ian found a comfy spot to sit and fish.
Michayla's watching her line, hoping for a nibble.
Addie, taking a break from fishing to pose for the camera.
I've always been somewhat of a tomboy. I'm really glad my kids love fishing. I love to fish more now than I ever did before. There's something peaceful and serene about being at the lake, casting my line, waiting for that nibble....
Spring is in full force, and Summer's not far behind...
We weren't the only ones hoping to catch a fish on this sunny day.
Some friends joined us for our day at the lake.
Sure makes me think of summer. The only thing missing was some ice cold watermelon. Mmmmmm...

I haven't been on here in a while... we just got back from a trip up to Nebraska to visit family. We had a great time while we were up there. We took a different route home, and saw all kinds of neat historical markers and sites. We really enjoyed it. Thought rather than a long post, I'd just share a couple pictures:
On the way up we drove through Rockport, Missouri to check out the wind turbines. Rockport is powered completely by wind turbines! http://www.rpmo.com/
Mike's sister, Teri, took us to brickyard park, in Hastings. The site was formerly a brick factory, and today you can still see the remnants of the old structure.
Every good park has a great climbing tree, and this one did not disappoint.
While the kids climbed the tree, I took the opportunity to snap a picture of my wonderfully handsome hubby and myself. :)
On the way home we went down the "pony express highway", Highway K73. There we found many historical markers and sites. This is one we stopped at, the Hollenberg Ranch, was a pony express station. From what I read, the structure as it stands today is unaltered from what it was back in 1860-1861. http://www.kshs.org/places/hollenberg/index.htm
The California Trail, Oregon Trail, and Pony Express, all follow or cross this route.
I celebrated a couple different things this week. First was my birthday, on Tuesday. Yes, I am 34 years of age. I don't like saying "years old" because I don't feel old. In fact, I still feel feel quite young! I have been terribly blessed over the years, and I'm loving life more now than ever before. God is so very good to me! In fact, I've decided I'm going to start writing things that I want to celebrate in my prayer journal. So, for my birthday, I knew I was going to get a cake. I didn't know how, because I sure wasn't making my own, and the kids didn't make one for me. I didn't know if my sweet hubby was going to pick one up for me, or what. But I did receive a cake, and it was awesome! My wonderful mother brought me this cake called Triple Fudge Sundae, or something like that, and let me tell you, it was AMAZING!
When I awoke on my birthday I saw that my two beautiful daughters had stayed up a little late the night before, creating a large banner that they hung, before I got up in the morning! How wonderfully sweet that was! I don't know why I didn't take any pictures of it, but I did fold it up and save it.
My sweet mother in law brought me a gift, a large, ornate candle with elephants, very nice. My wonderful and awesome hubby cooked up the most amazing ribs, grilled squash, zucchini and sweet potatoes, and steamed (on the grill also) asparagus for dinner. THAT was devine!
Then, to top it off, last night we went to an absolutely amazing concert at a local Christian night club where we heard Mission Blues, Az-U-R, and best of all (though Mission Blues did rock my socks off), John Schlitt (former lead singer of Head East and then Petra). Oh, I tell you, it was wonderful! I loved hearing John's testimony, and the stories behind his songs. We got to meet with him and talk to him in person, and he's the most down to earth and nicest guy you'll ever meet. I was able to tell him how much his music has blessed me over the years. Oh, and you know me, I took pictures! I'm still so happy about that concert, I think I'll be happy for days to come! Oh, I almost forgot that my mother in law also purchased his latest CD for us to have signed. Sweet. I am definitely blessed. I serve a good God!
I have 3 beautiful, intelligent children and I spend most of my time running after them, picking up. I love to be outdoors playing with the kids, hiking, camping (though I haven't done this in a while), and going to the lake. My favorite "vacation" activity is canoeing. I love animals; Our family has 1 parakeet, 1 pet rabbit, 1 dog, and 2 cats (I would love to have more, but simply don't have enough room!). I enjoy entertaing friends, and love inviting them over to watch movies and hang out with our family. I am constantly trying to strengthen in my walk with Christ, and try to grow daily in Him.
